HEYWOOD’s health workers gathered to celebrate NAIDOC Week on Tuesday, with a flag raising ceremony held at Heywood Rural Health.
Opened by chief executive officer Leigh Parker, the service included a Welcome to Country by Indigenous elder Delsie Lillyst in addition to a short discussion about NAIDOC Week 2021’s theme of Heal Country. The event was rounded off with attendants planting two native bushes at the entry to the site in memory of local Indigenous serviceman Wallace Alberts.
