Bronwyn Roberts – A Fresh Face on the HRH Board

Heywood Rural Health (HRH) has added decades of regional healthcare experience to its Board of Directors, with the arrival of new Director, Bronwyn Roberts.

Bronwyn commenced on the 21 November 2023 as an additional Board Director to HRH, taking the total number of Directors to 10.

Through her work as Western District Health Service (WDHS) Director of Nursing/Manager, Coleraine and Director of Aged Care Services Coleraine and Penshurst, Bronwyn says she understands the important role of health services in smaller towns and paying attention to the needs of the community.

“I’ve lived in the area for a long time, so I know Heywood, we always come down to the Wood, Wine & Roses Festival”, she said.

“I’ve been made feel very welcome at HRH and I think the surrounding gardens are lovely – it’s quite relaxed”.

“Small communities are definitely very supportive of the health service, and they want to make sure that their health service is responsive to their changing needs”.

Bronwyn brings an impressive resume with over 35 years of experience in health and approximately 20 of those years have been predominantly working in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Department (ED) as a clinician. She eventually went on to manage the ED, work as an afterhours coordinator, undertaken project work and was the Deputy Director of Nursing for 10 years. Bronwyn has further post graduate qualifications in critical care and business administration.

Bronwyn has been on the Casterton Memorial Hospital (CMH) Board for six years, however, took a leave of absence and stepped down from the Casterton Board due to the WDHS/ CMH dual Chief Executive appointment.

“I’m here to support the health service and the community and also able to offer my experience in clinical governance, in particular risk management, so I look forward to being part of the team” she said.

“I’ve only had a couple of meetings but it’s a very cohesive, welcoming team.”

Leigh Parker, CEO acknowledged Bronwyn’s breadth of knowledge, expertise and experience working in the Victorian Public Health system and welcomes Bronwyn to the Board.
