Heywood Rural Health has initiated an innovative recycling program that separates a wide range of waste at point of use.
HRH Support Services Manager Leigh Beddows and Rachael Moore, Business Systems & Innovation Manager introduced the new Recycling program to ensure HRH develop as an organisation and become more aware of our environmental responsibilities.
We have positioned three different bins in several areas of the health service for ‘paper & cardboard’, ‘recycling’ and ‘landfill’ to ensure we are separating our waste appropriately.
We also have also introduced a Recycle HUB which is also available to community members to recycle batteries, mobile phones, pens & markers, eyeglasses, small e-waste, household cables and toner cartridges.
Heywood Rural Health have a big focus on environmental sustainability which is part of the star rating as a health care provider. We have implemented these changes to reduce our landfill costs and divert to recycling.
Heywood Rural Health is part of a regional sustainability forum for health facilities that share ideas and work together to create innovative ways to be more environmentally friendly.
