There have been changes to the Heywood Rural Health Board of Directors with the completion of two Directors’ terms. Max Oberlander and Jill Warne have both served the Board with distinction and will be moving on.
Max has been a Board Director for six years; an active Consumer Advisory Committee member for the past five years; and has been Chair of this committee on three separate occasions, sitting in the role as he concluded his term. He was also a member of the Board Appointment Committee this year assisting with recruitment processes. He will continue to be a strong supporter of Heywood Rural Health. He volunteers many hours each week pruning roses, tending vegetable gardens for the residents and is passionate about the quality of care and community interaction with the aged care residents.
“I applied for a position on the board in 2018 and was honored to be given the role”, said Max. “I really enjoyed being on the Board. It is not an easy job but you have to have a big input into these sorts of positions. There were a lot of challenges when I first took it on. The Board members themselves and the CEO, staff and nurses were a fantastic group of people to work with. They all did a great job. One of the other roles I took on was to be a volunteer gardener, so the residents could see a bit of color, something to look at and appreciate. I was also lucky to have a few residents who helped with the garden as well. I wish them all the best for the future”.
Jill has been a Board Director for three years and the Board Deputy Chair, a role she has occupied for the past twelve months. She has been a member of the People and Culture Committee, and as part of this Committee has been instrumental in driving the Workforce Strategy. She has been an active and passionate member on the Clinical Governance Committee for all three years of her term, and concludes as the Chair of this committee. She was also a member of the Asset, Management and Planning Committee.
Leigh Parker, CEO said, “It has been an honour to have worked with two dedicated and passionate Board Directors in both Max and Jill. Each has added considerable strength and knowledge to the Board within their respective areas of expertise. Heywood Rural Health is now well positioned as a progressive and innovative provider of healthcare to over 650 consumers across the Great South Coast area, stretching from Corangamite Shire through to the boarder, due in part to the foresight and contributions from Max and Jill.”
We welcome new Board Director, Andrew Morecroft and Deb Loraine who has been a Board Director in the past. Tony Oxford, current Board Director/Chair was also reappointed for a further three years. More information on these appointments in the coming week.
