Heywood Rural Health’s Residential Aged Care, can accommodate forty-five (45) older persons requiring supportive care and associated services, including respite care.
Enjoy the ambience of a rural and peaceful setting in the heart of Heywood and be part of many activities thoughtfully planned out by the Leisure & Lifestyle Team.
Our nutritious meals are inspired by the Maggie Beer Foundation to enhance flavours and the health of all residents.
Our friendly staff are highly qualified and are here to provide care that meets the needs of each individual resident.
Our residential aged care homes have been recently renovated and offer:
- Bright and airy communal spaces
- Brand new open kitchenette
- Easily accessible outdoors areas
- Vegetable and flower gardens
- Leisure & Lifestyle coordinated activities
- Private spaces for residents to meet with family and friend.
- Resident’s rooms soon to be renovated with the inclusion of smart TVs, direct dial telephones (residents can receive and make calls free of charge)
- Larger room for those special family gatherings (Family Room)
The 45 beds in residential aged care are located across three homes:
- Sibley Wing; 13 bed high care residential aged care home
- Fitzroy Lodge; 13 secure residential aged care home for people with advanced memory loss and dementia
- Sydney and Lynne Quayle Wing; 19 low care residential aged care home
We are also able to provide palliative care for residents: This room is separate from the main Age Care area providing a private environment for families and residents to spend quality time together at the end stage of life. The room has been refurbished and a separate sitting area for families to relax and even stay over is adjacent to the room. All hospitality is provided to families and any special requests are certainly considered.
The room was opened by Vicki Jellie, Founder and Director of The Peter’s Project Foundation in February 2022 and has provided a very necessary service to families within the community.
Respite Care is another option for older persons requiring short term stays. This type of care may be needed to give family a break or when the primary carer for the older person is away or ill.
Respite is also a chance for families to have their loved ones ‘try’ living in an age care facility before making any decisions, also evaluating whether their loved ones are ready to transition to permanent care.
